This information will help you understand how water is managed in the water plan area and how you can access water.

- 9 April 2021: The resource operations licence for the construction of Rookwood Weir (PDF, 6.2MB) has been approved.
- 1 April 2021: Water limitations (PDF, 212KB) are withdrawn for the taking of water from Hedlow Creek.
- 29 Sep 2020: Consultation on the Fitzroy Basin draft water amendment plan and associated documents has now closed.
- 12 Jun 2020: We are working with industry and the community to bring Rookwood Weir into the water planning process.
- 28 Mar 2019: 90,000ML of strategic water infrastructure reserve is being made available from the Dawson River for temporary access (up to 3 years).

Notification of existing overland flow works
To ensure you meet the requirement of the water plan, you must notify us of existing overland flow works as soon as possible. Failure to do this is a breach of the Water Act 2000. Use form W2F019 – Notification of existing overland flow works (PDF, 273KB). For works installed after these dates, find out more about requirements for new works for taking overland flow.
- If you are a landowner, you must notify us if the works were in existence prior to 13 September 2001.
- If you are a holder of a mining tenement and or petroleum tenure, you must notify us if the works were in existence prior to 9 December 2011. You do not need to notify us if the works are to satisfy the requirement of an environmental authority issued under the Environmental Protection Act 1994.
