The Queensland Government is now in caretaker mode until after the state election. Minimal updates will be made to this site until after the election results are declared.
LPG motor fuel workshops
Installation and conversion of LPG gas-fuelled engines must be undertaken in a workshop that complies with the requirements of AS2746:2008 'Working areas for gas-fuelled vehicles'. You can find the relevant safety requirements (including mandatory and preferred standards) in our guide to legislative requirements, standards and codes.
Your workshop and equipment will be inspected by a Petroleum and Gas inspector to ensure they meet requirements.
An alternative compliance option for gas analysers may be available for small businesses that employ 3 or fewer competent gas installers and operate a fixed workshop with only 1 mobile unit. Read the small automotive workshops compliance policy (PDF, 18KB) for details.
