Unallocated Great Artesian Basin groundwater (Crows Nest, southern Lockyer and Scenic Rim)
Release of unallocated water
We are releasing unallocated water to give Queenslanders the resources needed to grow businesses and create new jobs in the southern Lockyer and Scenic Rim region.
1,275 megalitres of unallocated Great Artesian Basin groundwater is now available in the Crows Nest and Southern Moreton groundwater areas from the Walloon, Marburg and Woogaroo (PDF, 1.8MB) geological units.
How to apply
You can apply to use water for any purpose by submitting a tender application. The tender process is open to anyone in the release areas – regardless of whether or not they submitted an expression of interest about these water reserves earlier this year.
The Terms of release explains the licence conditions, pricing, payment and application instructions.
Tenders close at 5pm on 30 November 2020.
After the closing date, we will assess all applications for eligibility and conformance to the application requirements.
Conforming tenders will be assessed against the evaluation criteria listed in the Terms of release.
The term of the granted water licences may vary, dependent on any conditions imposed by the chief executive.
The water accessibility and quality of these aquifers is currently not well understood, and additional works will be needed to allow extraction.
To discuss these water resources with us, phone 13 74 68 or email firstname.lastname@example.org.
