Restricted invasive animals
Updates to prohibited and restricted matter
- There have been changes to the prohibited and restricted matter lists in the Biosecurity Regulation 2016.
- Please see Schedule 1 Prohibited matter and Schedule1A Restricted matter and categories of the Regulation for up-to-date lists of affected species.
Everyone is obligated to take all reasonable and practical measures that are under their control to minimise the biosecurity risks associated with invasive animals. This is part of your general biosecurity obligation.
Restricted invasive animals are established in Queensland and seriously threaten Queensland's primary industries, natural environment and livestock, as well as human health and people's livelihoods.
You can find detailed information on individual invasive animals below, and a summary of the restrictions and a list of restricted invasive animals in the Restricted invasive animals of Queensland fact sheet.
