Improving outcomes in the Warrego, Paroo, Bulloo and Nebine water plan area

To ensure the Warrego, Paroo, Bulloo and Nebine water plan continues to support sustainable management of water resources in the Warrego, Paroo, Bulloo and Nebine catchments, we will review how water is shared and how competing demands for water are balanced.

The water plan review will use best available science and information, including hydrological (incorporating climate resilience), environmental, cultural and socio-economic assessments and profiles, as well as public consultation. We will consider:

  • water availability and flexibility of access
  • how existing water entitlements are used
  • cultural values and uses
  • environmental water requirements
  • desired outcomes for the plan area.

The current water plan sets ecological, economic, cultural and social outcomes to be achieved through its management strategies. As part of the review of the water plan, we will work closely with key stakeholders and the community to assess, update and improve these outcomes where required.

We invite your views on how competing demands for water should be prioritised and how emerging issues can be managed while protecting existing water users and the environment.
