Receiving a decision for an environmental authority assessment

For an environmental authority (EA) decision to be made under the Environmental Protection Act 1994 (EP Act), the Department of Environment, Science and Innovation will assess the application. The assessment stages will depend on the type of application (standard, variation or site-specific) and the environmentally relevant activity.

If the application is approved, an EA will be issued containing a set of conditions that need to be complied with.

Before you begin

Prior to receiving an EA decision, you must complete the EA process.

More information

For more information about the decision making process for an EA under the EP Act, read the approval processes for environmental authorities (PDF, 942KB).

To know when the EA takes effect, refer to the assessment process for environmental authority applications.

The next step in the process is receiving a decision for a resource authority (tenure) application.
