ID scanning checklist

The checklist below will help you meet your obligations under the ID scanning scheme. You and your staff may conduct a regular self-assessment to ensure ongoing compliance with the ID scanner scheme.

Note: This checklist is not exhaustive and is a guide only.

General obligations
Have you entered into a contract with an Approved Operator regarding the installation, repair and maintenance of an approved ID scanner(s)?
Are you operating an approved ID scanner from 10pm on the required days? (If not, are you exempt from the requirement to operate an approved ID scanner?)
Are you complying with any specific approved ID scanner conditions imposed by a regulation or as a condition of your licence?
If you have a re-entry pass system, does it meet the requirements of the Liquor Act 1992?
Operation and maintenance
Are staff operating the approved ID scanner appropriately supervised by a crowd controller who is licensed under the Security Providers Act 1993, or otherwise covered by an exemption?
Have your staff received training in the operation of approved ID scanners including how to operate the approved ID scanner and circumstances under which they should refuse entry?
Are you and your staff aware of what to do in the case of a system failure?
Privacy
Have you 'opted-in' to be covered under the Privacy Act 1988 (Cwlth) if you have a turnover of less than $3,000,000 per year?
Do you have an ID scanner privacy policy readily available to patrons?
Do you have an ID scanning collection notice on display at each entry to the premises?
Do you have a privacy management plan for your venue?
Is your approved ID scanner equipment secure at all times?
Are you ensuring that personal information collected is only being used for the purpose it was intended?
Are staff aware of how they must deal with personal information?
Are staff aware of how they must deal with a complaint from the public about privacy?
