Impacts and management of fall armyworm in key crops

Fall army worm (FAW) has a very wide potential host range but so far has shown a distinct preference for grass species with whorls, including sweet corn, maize and sorghum.

FAW has not yet been detected in cotton, rice or winter grain crops, and while there have been reports in pulses and sugarcane, these appear to be mainly due to FAW movement from nearby preferred host plants.
