Expressions of interest for exploration
A targeted expression of interest (EOI) process to nominate areas of land for resources exploration and production is now open. EOI submissions will close at 5pm (AEST) on 9 October 2025.
Through this process you're invited to nominate specific areas of land to be considered for release for exploration. You can also nominate areas that may be suitable to go straight to production.
EOIs are a key part of planning future land releases for resources exploration and production in Queensland. Companies play an important role by identifying and nominating areas of land they believe have potential for resources development.
The process is seeking EOIs for:
- infill areas, adjacent to existing tenure or projects that are targeting petroleum and gas or coal
- vanadium exploration within the area outlined in this map (PDF, 3MB) (which includes part of RA 437 and former MDL 522).
As general guidance, we request no more than 3 EOI submissions per entity. If you would like to submit more than 3, contact us at resources-tenders@resources.qld.gov.au to discuss.
How to submit your expression of interest
Submit your expression of interest (EOI) using our online form.
You'll be able to:
- nominate an area of land for future exploration or production
- upload required supporting documentation.
They types of supporting documentation you'll need to provide as part of your EOI include:
- a shape file showing the area of interest, which you can produce using GeoResGlobe
- a description of the area
- a statement outlining the rationale for releasing the area
- maps showing nearby infrastructure, resource projects, tenure holding and other relevant features.
All submission must be received by 5pm (AEST) on 9 October 2025. Submissions received after this deadline may not be considered.
Your submission is confidential. The names of those submitting EOIs, and the details of the EOI submissions, will not be released.
Previous submissions
If you submitted an EOI in a previous round that meets the guidance for EOIs sought in this round, you'll need to resubmit the area through this year's EOI process.
