Funding for agricultural businesses in the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin

The Australian Government's Murray-Darling Basin Regional Economic Diversification Program (MDBREDP) funds projects to stimulate economic activity in areas of the Murray-Darling Basin that are affected by water reductions under the Murray-Darling Basin Plan (MDBP).

Murray-Darling Basin co-investment funding scheme

The Murray-Darling Basin Co-investment Funding Scheme provides direct financial support to eligible farm and post-farmgate businesses to help stimulate development of new high-value horticultural value chains in the Queensland Murray-Darling Basin (QMDB) region.

The scheme supports initiatives that encourage sustainable economic development in regional communities that are likely to be affected by the implementation of the MDBP.

The scheme is part of the Queensland Government's High Value Horticulture Value Chains for the QMDB project and is funded by the federal government under the MDBREDP.

The project addresses the barriers and the support needed to develop new and expanded high-value horticulture value chains in the Balonne and Border Rivers district, including to assess crop suitability and develop markets.

A total of $450,000 is available to support businesses in the Balonne and Border Rivers districts to diversify into horticultural value chains.
