Calculating your maximum volume

A calculation table has been developed to help you calculate the maximum volume of water you can take in a water year based on your announced entitlement or announced allocation.

Interactive calculation table

Enter your details in the table below.

Calculate your maximum volume of water

Enter in your nominal entitlement or volumetric limit

Enter in a percentage

Your maximum volume is:
{{maxVolume}} (ML)

Water licence: The maximum volume of water you may take in a water year is the nominal entitlement multiplied by the announced percentage on the water licence. Some water licences may contain a nominal volume, which can be used in the calculation table in place of the nominal entitlement.

Water allocations: The maximum volume of water you may take in a water year is the volumetric limit multiplied by the announced percentage on the water allocation.

When the calculation table cannot be used

For entitlements located in the Upper Condamine Alluvium Tributaries, Upper Condamine Alluvium and Upper Condamine Basalts, the maximum volume cannot be calculated here as they are subject to additional accounting rules. To determine the maximum volume of water you may take in these areas, contact your local business centre.

Example calculations

Below are examples that show how the maximum volume of water is calculated.

Example 1: Water licence in Bowen groundwater management area

Water licence number 12350
Subgroup Bowen groundwater – Zone 2
Announced percentage (%) 90
Nominal entitlement (ML) 40

Nominal entitlement (ML) x Announced percentage (%) = Maximum volume
40 (ML) x 90% = 36 (ML)

Example 2: Water Allocation in Pioneer groundwater management area

Water allocation number 1AP7900
Subgroup Coastal Main – Zone 15A
Announced percentage (%) 85
Volumetric limit (ML) 112

Volumetric limit (ML) x Announced percentage (%) = Maximum volume
112 (ML) x 85% = 95.2 (ML)

Example 3: Gowrie Oakey Creek water management area

Water allocation number 1AP7585
Subgroup Water allocation group GA2
Announced percentage (%) 167
Volumetric limit (ML) 108

Volumetric limit (ML) x Announced percentage (%) = Maximum volume
108 (ML) x 167% = 180 (ML)
