National support

Austrade is the Australian Government lead for tourism policy. It delivers tourism programs and is responsible for the Government’s official tourism statistics.

The Australian Government's tourism promotion agency Tourism Australia supports tourism businesses by attracting international visitors to Australia.

A number of tourism investment resources are available to help you invest and make informed decisions. Tourism Research Australia provides official statistics, research and economic data on domestic and international tourism. This includes the specific annual Tourism Investment Monitor publication.

The Australian Tax Office's New Investment Engagement Service gives tailored guidance on tax issues to businesses planning significant new investments in Australia.

Queensland Government support

The Tourism Investment Attraction and Facilitation team works across Government and industry to identify investment ready opportunities across Queensland. Email tourism@dtis.qld.gov.au to learn more about tourism investment opportunities.

Trade and Investment Queensland (TIQ) is the Queensland Government's dedicated global business agency, with representation in 16 countries, across 21 locations. TIQ helps Queensland companies access international markets, establish and grow their export business while also facilitating foreign investments in the state.

Tourism and Events Queensland (TEQ) is a statutory body of the Queensland Government and the state's lead marketing, tourism experience and destination development and major events agency. Working across Government and in partnership with regional tourism organisations, industry and commercial stakeholders, TEQ aims to build Queensland's tourism and events industry to foster innovation, drive industry growth and boost visitor expenditure.

Local support

Queensland has 13 membership-based regional tourism organisations (RTOs), which together represent more than 4,000 regional tourism businesses. The RTO network is widely regarded as one of the most influential in Australia and works with the Government to facilitate investment in new tourism product.
