Moving sheep

You have to meet certain requirements if you move sheep within Queensland, or into Queensland from other states and territories.

These requirements help protect our industries from pests and diseases.

Receiving sheep that have been transported

If you are receiving relocated sheep, you must record the movement within 48 hours on the National Livestock Identification System (NLIS).

Moving sheep within Queensland

Before moving sheep within Queensland you must:

Note: you do not require a Queensland certificate of health as of 1 July 2016 when introducing sheep into Queensland. You do have a general biosecurity obligation to prevent or minimise a biosecurity risk.

Check the livestock entry requirements for other states or territories.

Please ensure that you meet all Queensland travel requirements for sheep when moving through Queensland to get to another state.
