Driver authorisation
If you drive a road-based passenger transport vehicle, you must hold the appropriate driver authorisation.
This includes drivers of:
- taxi and booked hire services (including services provided in a limousine)
- scheduled services
- school services
- tourist services, including motorcycle tourist services
- community and courtesy transport services
- other passenger transport services.
Driver authorisation helps ensure drivers are suitable to provide passenger transport services, prioritising the safety of passengers, including children and vulnerable individuals, as well as public safety.
