VMS requirements in Queensland
Licensed fishing vessels operating in the following fisheries are required by law to use a vessel monitoring system (VMS):

|Gulf of Carpentaria Net Fishery No.2||N9|

Approved VMS units
A VMS unit must be a unit approved by Fisheries Queensland.
Below is a list of approved VMS units.

* No Trimble units will be approved for new installation
Mode of communication
If you are operating in a Queensland trawl fishery you must, by law, nominate a mode of communication by which your vessel can be contacted at all times.
You can update your details by submitting the Obligation to nominate a mode of communication for boat form to Fisheries Queensland.
