Skills, training, scholarships and fellowships for agriculture

Training and education are fundamental to building a productive, profitable and sustainable agricultural industry in Queensland.

Use the information below to find out what is available. You may be able to access additional opportunities through your local Natural Resource Management group or Regional Development Australia committee.

Accredited agricultural training courses

As a landholder, you can access AgForce's nationally accredited training courses, such as chemical accreditation and land management, to equip you to grow your enterprise through sustainable resource management and personal upskilling.

Agricultural extension work

If you are an agricultural graduate, you can be placed in the Queensland Farmers' Federation's Agricultural extension work placement program and be mentored within host organisations to gain experience and develop the skills required to engage with primary producers.

Agriculture industry scholarships

Build your capacity to lead with an AgriFutures' industry scholarship, and encourage research, education and training.

Biosecurity plant pest training

Support your biosecurity preparedness with Plant Health Australia's National emergency plant pest training program including simulation exercises and face-to-face and online biosecurity training.

Egg industry program and trainings

Egg farm workers can upskill with the EggStart induction program and training to improve efficiency and quality, and learn from industry experts in accredited and non-accredited courses.

Grains industry awards, scholarships and sponsorship

Drive innovation in the grain industry through a Grains Research Development Corporation award, scholarship or sponsorship and develop into a highly trained and motivated researcher, extension specialist, grower or adviser.

International agricultural research scholarships and fellowships

Consider an international research scholarship or fellowship with the Australian Centre for International Agricultural Research, designed to build the capacity of individuals and institutions in developing countries to carry out agricultural research projects.

International trade and investment placement opportunities

Graduates and small business can participate in Trade and Investment Queensland's Developing future leaders program to learn new skills, build partnerships and increase knowledge of international markets.

Pork industry scholarships

If you are a higher education student, you can apply for an Australian Pork Limited industry scholarship to establish your research career or gain experience within the industry.

TAFE agriculture and horticulture certificates

If you are a Year 12 graduate, you can access free TAFE training and careers to support work opportunities in high priority areas such as agriculture and horticulture.
