Small business security grants (Secure Communities Partnership Program)

Apply for funding to make preventative security improvements that help deter crime, reduce losses and create safer business environments.

You can apply as:

  • an individual small and family business
  • a property owner, lessor or other authorised entity—where improvements directly benefit eligible small business tenants.

If your project involves a larger, coordinated security initiative that benefits multiple businesses, read about our shared security grants.

In short

Your business must meet the eligibility criteria to apply.

You can apply for between $1,500 and $20,000 (excluding GST) depending on project type, and use the grant to pay for:

  • alarm systems
  • access control and entry management
  • surveillance and detection
  • lighting and environmental security improvements
  • physical security items
  • mobile business security.

You must contribute 50% of your eligible project costs. This means your total eligible project costs must be between $3,000 and $40,000 (excluding GST).

  • $3,000 for projects involving mobile business assets such as a vehicle, trailer, cart (minimum grant of $1,500)
  • $5,000 for fixed-premises or combined fixed and mobile projects (minimum grant of $2,500).
