ICT tendering opportunities

Winning government contracts can bring great rewards for your information and communication and technology (ICT) business. But securing work means first taking some time to understand government procurement.

What is ICT

The Queensland Government Enterprise Architecture defines ICT (information communication and technology) as:

'ICT products and/or services generally cover all types of technology (data, voice, video, etc.) and associated resources, which relate to the capture, storage, retrieval, transfer, communication or dissemination of information through the use of electronic media. All resources required for the implementation of ICT are encompassed, namely equipment, software, facilities and services, including telecommunications products and services that carry voice and/or data'.

Supplying ICT to government

You can find tendering opportunities to supply ICT products and services to the government on the QTenders website.

Before you search for tendering opportunities, take some time to understand how government procurement works. This includes learning about the Queensland Procurement Policy (QPP), the government's overarching policy for the procurement of goods and services. It supports procurement from diverse suppliers as well as achieving purposeful public procurement outcomes.

Contracting framework

The Queensland Information Technology Contracting (QITC) framework is used for any government purchasing of ICT products and services.

The QITC framework provides a choice of 4 different contract types to reflect the risk and value of the ICT procurement:

  • general contract
  • comprehensive contract
  • supplier's terms and conditions
  • bespoke contract.

The QITC framework consists of the following:

  • Standardised contract conditions for general and comprehensive contracts.
  • Contract details for general and comprehensive contacts that both parties complete to form a contract.
  • Modules 1–7 address particular transaction types and are for use with comprehensive contracts.
  • Schedules 1–11 are optional documents and templates for use with the comprehensive contracts.
  • Guidelines for using supplier terms and conditions, and additional guidance notes for using the framework.
