Compounds Australia—access to Australia's unique chemistry

Compounds Australia is a national compound management facility that securely stores and curates sample libraries submitted by Australia's research chemists.

Compounds Australia is part of the Griffith Institute for Drug Discovery (GRIDD). GRIDD tackles devastating diseases, using the unique resources of Compounds Australia and NatureBank and their extensive global network of partners.

Unique selling point/competitive advantage

Compounds Australia enables new collaborations between chemists and biologists by providing:

  • unique chemistry including:
    • Australia Academic synthetic and natural product chemistry
    • commercially sourced annotated collections of FDA drug libraries
    • diversity collections for drug discovery
  • low-cost flexible screening and assay formats.

Compounds Australia also facilitates interactions between global life-science researchers and key organisations, including CSIRO, Medicines for Malaria Venture and Australian Institute of Marine Science.

Investment or collaboration opportunities

Compounds Australia is seeking new international research organisations to access their open library, catalysing international chemistry research linkages.

Compounds Australia also seeks compound libraries from Australia's world-class chemistry researchers to help make their compounds accessible to global collaborators.

Intellectual property rights

Compounds Australia's unique intellectual property (IP) model ensures that chemists retain ownership of their compounds, enabling straightforward negotiation with potential licensees when a discovery is made.
