Locust prevention and control program
Prevention and control program for locusts has been authorised under the Biosecurity Act 2014.
Biosecurity matter
The biosecurity program relates to Australian plague locust (Chortoicetes termininfera), migratory locust (Locusta migratoria) and spur-throated locust (Austracris guttulosa).
Purpose and scope
The purpose of the Program is to manage or reduce populations of ground-moving hopper bands and flying swarms of Australian plague locust (Chortoicetes termininfera), migratory locust (Locusta migratoria) or spur-throated locust (Austracris guttulosa) in those parts of Queensland to which the program applies.
Commencement and duration
The Program commenced on 1 December 2016 and will continue until 30 June 2027.
Access to biosecurity program
A copy of the biosecurity program for prevention and control of locusts is available for inspection at all Department of Agriculture and Fisheries offices.
