Completing your apprentice or trainee – video transcript

Watch the video about how to complete the apprenticeship or traineeship.

It’s an exciting time - your apprentice or trainee is nearing completion.

Once they have achieved all their competencies to workplace industry standards, it’s time to complete the paperwork.

Of course your supervising registered training organisation will be there to help you and your apprentice or trainee through this final phase.

Here are seven simple steps to help streamline the process of finalising their apprenticeship or traineeship.

Step 1 – Agree that all training and assessment is complete
Make sure your apprentice or trainee has successfully fulfilled all their assessment tasks on their training plan. If in doubt, check with your supervising registered training organisation. Remember, this includes all competencies that your apprentice or trainee has completed in their chosen qualification.

Step 2 – Receive the qualification or statement of attainment
Once your apprentice or trainee has successfully completed all the competencies in their training plan, your supervising registered training organisation will issue them with an official qualification.

Step 3 – Complete paid working hours
If you have a school-based trainee, make sure they have completed their minimum amount of paid working hours.

Step 4 – Sign the completion agreement
This is a big occasion and shows that you all agree that your apprentice or trainee has completed their training.

Check which form applies from the listed paperwork and make sure that you, your apprentice or trainee, and supervising registered training organisation all sign it.

Step 5 – Your supervising registered training organisation will send us the completion agreement within 10 days of it being signed.

Step 6 – We then issue a completion certificate to the apprentice or trainee, and a letter to you confirming that the apprenticeship or traineeship has been completed.

Step 7 – Congratulations! Your employee has successfully completed their qualification and is no longer an apprentice or trainee.
