Cruise tourism

Queensland has the second largest economic impact generated from the cruise industry in Australia. Queensland generated a total value add of $570 million from an output of $1,037 million. A total of 521 cruise ship days were spent along Queensland shores in 2018–19, bringing in 853,000 passengers and crew.

The cruise industry provides an economic boost to Brisbane and coastal Queensland, in particular Far North Queensland (including Cairns, Port Douglas and Thursday Island), the Whitsundays, Fraser Coast and Townsville. Queensland boasts 13 cruise destinations, the largest number of cruise destinations in Australia.
