Pest management careers

Occupations with pest management responsibilities exist in a wide range of organisations, including those in the private sector, local and state government, and non-government organisations such as Greening Australia.

Some occupations with pest management responsibilities include:

  • biosecurity officer
  • invasive weed and/or animal control contractor
  • parks ranger
  • scientist
  • government advisor
  • landholder
  • bush regenerator
  • community group employees and volunteers (e.g. Landcare, Greening Australia, Greencorp and Australian Trust for Conservation Volunteers).

National competency standards for invasive plant and animal (vertebrate pest) management have been developed and are available through the Conservation and Land Management training package.
