Water metering in Queensland
From October 2012, the Queensland Government ceased its direct involvement in the purchase, installation and maintenance of water meters. It's also reducing the paperwork clients are required to prepare.
The policy assigns responsibility to the water entitlement holder to purchase a meter, arrange for its installation and certification, and arrange for maintenance of the meter.
From 31 March 2014, entitlement holders for unsupplemented water are required to provide up to 2 meter readings to the Department of Natural Resources and Mines (DNRM) within a water year for each water meter.
This guide explains your requirements for water metering in Queensland, including how to read your water meter and the benefits of self-reading your meter.
