Queensland Smithsonian Fellowships
The Queensland-Smithsonian Fellowships Program supports collaborative projects between the Queensland Government and the Smithsonian Institution, based in the United States. It supports fellows from Queensland's research, education and cultural sectors to visit a Smithsonian Institution facility and complete a project.
Fellowships are awarded for a diverse range of projects, including those in the natural sciences, social sciences, the arts, education or museum management.
Fellows will increase their knowledge and skills in areas of mutual interest with the Smithsonian Institution, and apply these to benefit their work and their home organisations in Queensland.
Funding of up to $25,000 (excluding GST) is available to fellows for projects running for 8 to 16 weeks.
This includes funding of $1,250 per week in living allowance to assist with living costs (up to a maximum of $20,000) and up to $5,000 in travel allowance to pay for economy class airfares and associated travel expenses.
