Have your say on the Mitchell water plan review
Our first round of public consultation for the Mitchell water plan area review is now open. All feedback must be submitted to us by 30 September 2025.
Your feedback should include anything you’d like us to consider as part of the water plan review, such as issues you have with the current water plan or the reasons we’re replacing the water plan. Provide as much detail as possible.
Include your contact details if you’re happy for us to contact you to discuss your feedback.
If you’re interested in being part of the Mitchell water plan working group to help shape the new water plan, let us know when you submit your feedback.
The scope of this review is limited to the management and allocation of water. Any issues or comments relating to the assessment or approval of infrastructure proposals should be referred to the Office of the Coordinator-General.

Timeline
From when we start a review to when the new plan is formally adopted takes several years.

Current status
The status of this review is step 1. We ask everyone for their ideas and suggestions through public consultation.
We will work with community groups and stakeholders and will provide opportunities for you to meet us and talk about the water plan review. We'll tell you when these sessions are organised.
What’s next
Step 2: We’ll review feedback and use technical assessments to develop the draft new water plan in 2025–26.
Step 3: We’ll release the draft water plan for second round of public consultation in 2026.
Step 4: We’ll review feedback received in step 3 and finalise the replacement water plan in 2027.
Step 5: The new water plan will be in place in 2027.
