About the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games
In April 2018, Queensland successfully delivered the Gold Coast 2018 Commonwealth Games (GC2018). Australia topped the medal tally with a staggering 198 medals comprising of 80 gold, 59 silver and 59 bronze medals.
Queensland welcomed athletes, officials, family, friends, volunteers, tourists and spectators from over 71 nations to the Gold Coast, Brisbane, Cairns and Townsville.
An action-packed 11 days of sport, arts and culture inspired people from Australia and the world. More than 1.2 million tickets were sold to sport events and Festival2018 had more than 1 million free and ticketed attendances.
GC2018 supported trade and economic growth, promoted equality and diversity; celebrated local and international culture, supported local artists, and contributed to active, healthy and engaged communities.
