Commercial fishers and port developments

A number of Queensland's ports are undertaking development activities. Where the environmental impact statement has identified possible financial impacts on commercial fishers due to the development, the developer may be directed to compensate commercial fishers.

The Queensland Government's Department of Agriculture, Fisheries and Forestry is responsible for facilitating compensation arrangements for commercial fishing operators. Fisheries Queensland is developing and running the process.

This guide provides information on current port developments that may impact commercial fishers, and programs for addressing their impact.
