Wildlife management for landowners
Landowners can do a lot to help maintain Queensland's amazing diversity of animals.
The Department of Environment and Resource Management's (DERM) guidelines for wildlife management are a useful introduction to managing wildlife on your property. You can meet with one of DERM's extension officers to learn more about wildlife and ecosystems and conserving your land's natural biodiversity.
One way to help protect wildlife is establish a nature refuge on your property. If you have a nature refuge or are willing to establish one over all or part of your property, you are eligible to apply for NatureAssist, which is available to:
- freehold landowners
- lessees of land
- private companies
- nature conservancies.
The DEEDI website also has a list of contacts that you can use in different animal situations to find the right person for help.
