The Department also provides:

  • Government support services for business

  • information on Codes of practice to assist business in complying with regulations

  • information on relevant legal issues

  • a Business Hotline for more specific information on regulatory obligations

  • a range of fact sheets to assist you in the setting up and running of your business

  • information on registering a domain name, so you can promote your business on the web

  • information about using e-commerce within your business.

Understanding your business taxation requirements is vital. The Australian Taxation Office can assist you to comply with their requirements.

Trademarks and patents can be registered with IP Australia to protect your intellectual property in Australia.
