Where will you get finance?

Working out how much finance your business needs, sourcing capital and managing your finances are important considerations for small business. The following services can assist in preparing to raise capital for your business:

  • The 7 steps to business success is a checklist to help assess the viability of a business prior to starting up. It contains a section on 'Considering your finances' to assist you in identifying and understanding this critical issue.

  • The Department publishes fact sheets about common business topics including:

    • Financing your business 
    • Annual cash flow forecast 
    • Annual profit budget 
    • Control your cash flow  
    • Business records you should keep

  • The Capital Raising team manages the Queensland capital raising pipeline project which teaches business intenders and owners how to access capital.

  • Smart Skills - an interactive, online tool which has a finance and cash module for helping business owners develop new skills.

  • The Department runs a variety of workshops and seminars on common small business topics including:

    • Managing for profits - provides guidance on understanding the financial results of your business and the appropriate action required.

  • The Tourism Assistance Database directs tourism operators to funding and assistance schemes.

  • The Business Loan Finder can assist you to find and compare business loan options.

  • Visit the business sections of bank websites and take advantage of a range of financial and budget calculators provided on these sites.
