Smart Energy Savings Program
Following a review of the operation of the Smart Energy Savings Program (SESP), under the Clean Energy Act 2008, the Queensland Government has announced that the SESP will be discontinued to reduce the regulatory burden on Queensland businesses. This decision is effective immediately.
All businesses currently required to report on their energy use, undertake audits and prepare and report on an energy savings plan under the SESP will no longer be required to do so.
The Clean Energy Act 2008 will be repealed at the earliest possible opportunity in 2013.
In the interim, it is proposed that participants will not be required to undertake compliance action in relation to any outstanding obligations under the Clean Energy Act 2008. Participants will receive written notification from the Regulator.
For further information regarding the closure of the program please email smartenergy@deedi.qld.gov.au or phone the SESP team, within the Department of Energy and Water Supply, on (07) 3237 1591.
